LE GOLFE / Hiking / Grimaud
PONT DES FÉES.
BELOW GRIMAUD.
There is more to Grimaud than the view from its castle. Drop into the Garde valley for a bridge, trees and a climb back towards the windmill. A short walk adds a different perspective to a village visit.

THE LE GOLFE TAKE
A short loop to accompany a Grimaud visit. Its easy rating still includes steps and an uphill return: wear suitable shoes.
Below the village, near the cemetery
The described start is the car park near the cemetery. Find the departure panel below the pétanque area. This walk starts at hilltop Grimaud, a different area from Port Grimaud.
Look up the official loop before descending. If walking from the village centre, add that approach to the published trail time.

Down to the bridge, up to the windmill
Yellow waymarks lead towards the Garde and Pont des Fées. The signed variant climbs towards Saint-Roch windmill before returning to the car park. The loop connects the valley floor with views from the ascent.
Use the official directions at junctions and look for “variante Pont des fées” signs. This outline explains the loop rather than replacing a map.

Read the landscape, not just the distance
The bridge formed part of Grimaud’s old water supply system. That makes the walk more than a change of scenery: village heritage extends beyond the façades. Take time for the interpretation panels.
Our suggestion: pause at the bridge and again at the windmill. With children, choose a detail to observe at each stop rather than racing towards the next sign.

Easy does not mean flat
The route listing gives an hour for 1.9 km with 81 m of ascent. Steps and the uphill return still require effort. Choose shoes that hold your feet securely rather than beach sandals.
Adapt the pace for children and stay close on the descent. If you need a pushchair-friendly or accessible path, ask the tourist office for another option; this loop does not guarantee step-free access.

Combine the walk with the village
Choose dry weather for comfortable walking. After significant rain, ask the tourist office about the path and river surroundings. Wet ground can change the experience of a short walk.
Check local and forest access restrictions too. Keep Grimaud village as the next part of the day: the castle visit, streets and lunch come in addition to the published hour.
