Bonporteau feels distinct from the long town-centre waterfront. Rocks frame the sand, while the tourist office describes eucalyptus, tamarisk and palms on the approach. Take time over the transition from town to cove rather than treating it only as the route to your towel.

Head to the signed access west of Cavalaire and continue on foot. The practical beach page describes a steep path closed to vehicles and two-wheelers, without wheelchair access. Wear suitable shoes and allow for carrying your things uphill again; the map marks the beach, not a car park.

Bonporteau is listed as unpatrolled. Check sea conditions and posted notices before swimming. Our advice: bring water, sun protection and food if staying a while, as the office lists no catering on the beach. Take all rubbish away.
BEYOND THE FIRST LOOK
Allow for summer crowds and parking without relying on an immediately available space. The Corniche des Maures trails offer another way to see the area; plan that walk separately, with suitable shoes, time and current access information.
