On Place Étienne Dolet, Saint-Sauveur–Saint-Étienne anchors a visit to Cogolin. The restrained stonework invites a closer look. Our idea: start with the façade, step inside if the church is open, then continue slowly towards the upper village.

FIND YOUR RHYTHM
START OUTSIDE. TAKE YOUR TIME WITHIN.
01
Cogolin’s stone in the façade
The present church uses basalt quarried within Cogolin’s territory. Its history should not be confused with the first parish church recorded in 1079, whose location is unknown. Our advice: look at the building in front of you before tracing the village’s wider chronology.
02
Reach Place Étienne Dolet
The official address is Place Étienne Dolet in central Cogolin. Use authorised parking and finish on foot. The map marks the church without promising a parking space at its doorway. Ask the tourist office for a suitable route if you have access requirements.
03
Take time inside
The nave dates from the first half of the 15th century, with further construction in the 16th. The tourist office highlights a triptych and a polychrome marble high altar among the furnishings. Respect services, quiet and any instructions about photography.
BEYOND THE FIRST LOOK
Connect the church with the upper village
Our suggestion: extend the walk towards the clock tower and Saint-Roch chapels. The 1587 bell moved from the tower gives another link between these monuments. Check opening for your date: listed free access does not mean the interior is available at every hour.
