At the Patec, a square and circular pergola frame your view towards the sea. The place invites a pause before following the steps into lower Le Rayol. Our idea: enjoy the outlook first, then decide how far to descend while leaving energy for the climb back.
The circular pergola on stone pillars was built in 1926 on a panoramic square. The site also hosts local gatherings. Our advice: walk slowly around the square, look at the changing perspectives and make time for the view.
02
Reach the Patec
Aim for the Patec pergola in Le Rayol and use only authorised parking indicated on site. The published tourism marker places the square area rather than guaranteeing a parking space. Ask the tourist office for a suitable approach if you have mobility requirements.
03
Treat the steps as part of the outing
The Patec stands at the upper end of steps leading towards the sea. Going down also means climbing back: water, suitable shoes and a cooler time of day make the walk more comfortable. Our suggestion: choose a section that suits your group without making the beach compulsory.
BEYOND THE FIRST LOOK
Continue exploring Rayol-Canadel
The Patec is separate from the Domaine du Rayol garden, which has its own visiting arrangements. Canadel beach has a different approach: the Patec stairway is not a guaranteed shortcut to that beach. Plan the next part of your visit accordingly.
