PAMPELONNE

ONE BEACH. MANY DIFFERENT DAYS.

Pampelonne is a series of beach areas spanning roughly 4.5 km in Ramatuelle. Tahiti, Moulins, Tamaris, Patch, Épi, Barraques and Bonne Terrasse have distinct access roads: choosing the right one shapes the whole day.

LE GOLFE VIEW

“The question is not “Pampelonne or not?” but “which Pampelonne?””

You can come for a simple public beach, an iconic lunch, a family day, a beach club or a boat arrival. LE GOLFE should help choose the right sector instead of recommending the beach as one single experience.

A DAY ON PAMPELONNE

Choose the rhythm before the sunbed.

01 · EARLY

The beach before the scene

In peak summer, arriving before the late-morning rush can help avoid heavy traffic and full car parks. Conditions vary by day and local events.

02 · LUNCH

Make lunch a decision

Whether you choose a beach club, restaurant or public stretch, decide on the precise destination first. Different beach venues may require separate approach roads and car parks.

03 · LATE AFTERNOON

Stay as it empties

The light softens, but departures can bunch up between around 6pm and 7.30pm during high season. Arrange your return rather than assuming a car will be immediately available.

PAMPELONNE ACCESS GUIDE

One beach. Seven approaches to know.

Pampelonne is best approached area by area. The right route depends on your stretch of sand or restaurant booking. The LE GOLFE illustration introduces seven main approaches from the Route des Plages; it is indicative, not a navigation map.

01 · Route de Tahiti

02 · Chemin des Moulins

03 · Chemin des Tamaris

04 · Boulevard Patch

05 · Route de l’Épi

06 · Chemin des Barraques

07 · Route de Bonne Terrasse

Choose the right approach

Tahiti serves the northern side. Moulins, Tamaris, boulevard Patch and route de l’Épi reach different middle sections; Barraques and Bonne Terrasse serve areas further south. These approach roads are not always interchangeable by car.

Timing, parking and villas

In July and August, arrivals around 11am–1pm and evening returns around 6–7:30pm may be slow. Use authorised parking. In peak season, plan how you will get there and back: booking a taxi or private driver in advance can make the day easier, especially if you plan to stay into the evening.

BEACH CLUBS

Different beaches. Different moods.

So-called private beaches are seasonal businesses on a public shoreline. Here are a few venues documented by the tourism office; confirm access road, opening dates and booking conditions.

Not an exhaustive list · addresses checked against Ramatuelle Tourism (October 2026). Venues, access roads and seasons may change.

4.5 KM

Its length is the real luxury.

Along its 4.5 km coastline, the main approaches from the D93 include route de Tahiti, chemin des Moulins, chemin des Tamaris, boulevard Patch, route de l’Épi, chemin des Barraques and route de Bonne Terrasse. The best access is the one matching your chosen area, not just a GPS search for the beach.

ACCESS

In summer, plan the journey before the beach.

Peak arrivals can build between 11am and 1pm, with busy returns early in the evening. Parking availability and charges depend on the area and season; avoid prohibited roadside parking. Ramatuelle provides information on seasonal village shuttles and bus line 875. For groups, a pre-booked shuttle or driver can simplify the day, though it is not essential for everyone.

THE RIGHT MATCH

Iconic, yes. Uniform, never.

Pampelonne is essential if you want to understand the Golfe's beach culture. But it is not automatically the best beach for everyone: l'Escalet, coves or other shores can be better for a quieter or more natural day.

LENGTH

Around 4.5 km.

COMMUNE

Ramatuelle, not Saint-Tropez.

ACCESS

Public beach, clubs, parking and seasonal shuttles.

STRATEGY

Choose the sector for the group profile.

LE GOLFE WOULD PICK IT FOR

  • — Avoiding August crowds completely
  • — A zero-logistics nature day
  • — Choosing a club only for its name

Useful questions before you choose.

Public beach or beach club?

Choose your type of day first. Lunch, a sunbed and time on a public beach need different arrangements.

Which area should I choose?

Check the parking and access that fit your plans rather than treating Pampelonne as one single point.
