L’Escandihado

PASSING TRADITIONS ON THROUGH PRACTICE

Provence is recognised through its landscapes, but it is also passed on through a tune, a dance step or a costume. L’Escandihado keeps that cultural memory moving in Grimaud and Cogolin. Behind performances are people learning, rehearsing and sharing: local culture as a practice as well as a spectacle.

01

Passing traditions on through practice

The association presents dance, music, singing and costume as complementary ways into Provençal culture. Together they give village celebrations a deeper context. Discover the collective work behind a performance rather than treating the group as entertainment available at any time.

02

Instruments and voices

The music workshop introduces Provençal instruments, including galoubet and tambourin. The choir explores singing and the language. Ask which activity suits your interests and experience; enjoying a public performance and learning a repertoire are different ways of getting involved.

03

Clothing and craftsmanship

The group also presents a sewing workshop devoted to traditional costume. Dance activities cover several practices and include younger participants. Enquire about current groups and arrangements to understand where your interests might fit.

BEYOND THE FIRST LOOK

Meeting the association

Consult L’Escandihado’s site for activities and participation enquiries. Confirm venues, session times and membership arrangements directly. For a public performance, use a dated announcement: the group is not permanently performing in the streets of either town.
